Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder in the UK is thought to impact between 3% to 5% of school aged children, however, although the focus is often upon children, it is not only them that have ADHD, but adolescents and adults too.
The prevalence of ADD/ADHD in the adult population is said to be between 4% and 5%. To put that figure in context, 4 percent means 2 million people, but the majority of these individuals have gone un-diagnosed.
The majority of people with ADD/ADHD have auditory reception problems and although they can hear, they often have difficulty making sense of what they hear. At times they can't tune out unwanted input and focus on specific tasks. It is this indiscriminate reception of auditory input which leads to the inability to concentrate their attention on a selected topic for any length of time.
With ADD/ADHD it also becomes difficult to put the brakes on and control the impulse to act and this impulsiveness often leads to behavioral problems. This then presents as poor social skills, which can lead to feelings of low self-worth and lack of confidence.

We look to bring balance between the two hemispheres of the brain which is of fundamental importance in ADHD and learning in general, which is known as "whole brain learning". Both hemispheres play a role in processing language, however the roles they play are different. The eye must combine with the power and the quality of the ear to make sense of the written sounds. With sound therapy this cross-hemisphere co-ordination happens easily as the left hemisphere deals primarily with auditory language and the right hemisphere deals with vision. However, in ADHD as well as the natural hemisphere co-ordination, we look to start the user at a higher sound therapy level and gently move downwards, so we are re-training the brain, which is what the Sound Therapy Listening Program does effectively.
The "Sound Therapy Listening Program" used with adults, teenagers and children of all ages and abilities is an easy to use 5 level program that combines innovative sound technology with a wide selection of music. The program gently gives the brain a natural sonic workout, creating new neural connections that helps with ADHD as a result.
The program is proven in studies to stimulate cross hemisphere co-ordination that help's ADHD, whilst increasing focus and general learning. There are also other positive benefits that you will pleasantly find out about as you browse the page.
Listening to the music helps my brain get ready to learn. I have gone up 2 targets grades in English and I can read, spell and write much easier now.
I have noticed a significant change in one particular pupil when he listens to the Sound Therapy – his whole persona changes and he becomes focused and willing to participate in lessons. An incredible transformation.
One pupil has ADHD – hyperactive not aggressive. He asked for the CD player to be put on his desk with ear next to it and produced better work than he’s done in a year!
As the teachers mentioned in their chat above, the Sound Therapy can work extremely quickly and can create the space for behavioural and learning change to take place.
One of the real benefits is that you don't need to spend hours of time listening, as part of our research results came from users only listening to one 10 minute track/day.
It's so easy to use that no matter how busy your schedule, you’ll be able to listen to at least 10 minutes while commuting to school, work, walking around, working out, relaxing even or studying.
The Program is a DOWNLOADABLE home-based 5 level program in which the sound therapy intensifies level by level. The user stays on a level for approx two weeks then chooses to move on or stay longer on that level.
The program is a combination of sound therapy under musical tracks. Although the music is enjoyable and has benefits, it's main purpose is to keep the listener engaged so as to not get bored with just sounds.
Each of the 5 levels have 8 different genres of music to choose from, so there is plenty of choice with 40 tracks, so you can create your own sessions to suit your taste in music.
On each level of the program there are 8 genres of musical choice which are Happy Island, Dance, Indian Classical, Chinese, Mozart, Nature, Waves and Ambient, so there is something for everyone.
The musical tracks are non-vocal so the language centers of the brain don't get caught up in the lyrics. Whats more is that you can listen while studying or doing other tasks, which makes listening easy.
The program has been used in schools and homes for several years without any side effects at all. In the instructions we do recommend water as the sound is like a brain workout.
A study conducted by the Cognitive Drug Research Group, a top UK and international cognitive testing and research company, found that all users made an improvement, but those facing challenges from dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD and other learning and behavioral problems improved more significantly using our program for just 10 minutes a day.
Memory also improved by an astonishing 46% to 73% in our test group, which could have implications for learning and those with short term memory challenges.

Even though we have some great results with dyspraxia, dyslexia, ADHD, auditory processing disorder and other learning challenges, we have also had some very good results and feedback from those who have purchased the program to help them focus and learn more effectively. So it can be used by anyone of any age who would like to give their brain a 5 level workout.
The program is designed to educate or re-educate the brain to enable more effective processing by speeding up, slowing down or through cross hemisphere synchronisation that brings about whole brain learning. This is maintained throughout the use of the program and gives the brain a chance to re-adjust as it works through the levels. Once the program is completed you will find that cognitive and emotional behaviour will of changed in a positive way and it lasts.
However, what we also find is that the program can be used periodically, when it is felt that it is needed as a boost, such as before exams, sports events or when stressful situations arise, so it becomes like a tool in the toolbox to use as required.
If you listened to the auditory feedback from the SEN teachers further up the page you will of heard them say that they have seen results in as quickly as 5 minutes of listening to the program. As each individual is different, then results will vary, but will be consistent with using the program on a daily basis initially. Our research also showed results with users spending 10min/day or 1 track whilst others prefer 20min or 2 tracks per day which they felt was more intense and helped speed up the process. What we do know is that you will see positive results and they may be in areas that you did not expect which is why we ask users to create a base line of their activities and abilities before and after using the program.
We don't actually put a limit on the listening as we have had users who have enjoyed the music and have listened many times a day. However, my advice would be to start off with one or two tracks/day and see how that feels initially then more if it feels like you are getting more benefit or using the program fo a specific purpose such as exams or other stressful situations or times when you need a burst of focused attention..
We suggest that you have a cut off period of at least 2 hours before going to bed. The reason for this is that due to the program giving the brain a workout
What we noticed at times is that users can sometimes but rarely feel a little light headed when starting out on the program. If this happens, because after all the brain is being worked, then we advise at least a glass of water before listening. Although nobody has given us feedback on any headaches it's another reason why some water is recommended just in case.
Although some users have moved up a level before the recommended 2 weeks, others have stayed on a level for 4 weeks or more because they feel that it is really making a difference. Some users move up the levels and maybe get to level 4 and revert back to level 3 because they felt that was doing them more benefit and level 4 may of been a little too fast. Whatever your process of working through the levels from 1-5 or starting at 4 back to 2 for maybe some of the ADHD users we are always here to share knowledge and best practice.
In terms of support the founder of the program Jeff Moran is always there to answer your questions and advise on various products and issues that have to do with the program and often outside the program, in areas of general learning and behaviour. He can be contacted through his personal email or if a telephone call is the better option then we can arrange that. We also have the live chat with the team that you can find on each page where we can help with any questions. However Jeff is the expert in the field.
This question comes up a lot and our answer is that we carried out the research with CDR using really cheap mp3 players and earbuds, so the answer is in our experience and to get results then no. However if you choose to get a decent pair of comfortable headphones then by all means do so as it may improve the listening experience, just like sitting on a comfy chair.
What we have suggested and used on several occasions is that 2 speakers are placed in the room on opposite side so when the user is in the middl-ish then they still get the cross-hemisphere effect, or even better play a track in the car. So yes there are way to get the user to listen without headphones because a good part of the program is to enjoy it.
Yes, we find it works well as a complement to Forbrain as it provides a strong and complete multi-sensory training, but we would suggest you try the Sound Therapy listening Program before moving to Forbrain.
The main aim was to create a program that was affordable and could be used with a wide range of users. Because it is a generic program it does not require tailor made solutions, which often ramp up the cost and are not always necessary.
So if you shop around you will find that we are one of the most, if not the most cost effective solution in the market and we always say that before you spend possibly hundreds if not thousands on a solution, give ours a go as you may be pleasantly surprised.
Yes, you can use the program again and again and also share it with other members of your household for them to gets the benefits. Users listen to it when they feel they need a recharge or as mentioned before in certain situations such as before exams, interviews, sports activities etc. It's your to use for life.
